Bright Pink 1950s "Shift" Dress - Jeunesse

1950s shift dress (which is clothing code for a simple sleeveless dress), in bright pink by Jeunesse New York ( A brand owned by Suzy Perette, Vintage Fashion Guild article here.)
There is no size, care, or material labels, but it's about 36" long with a 26" waist. My favorite part is the metal zipper and tiny bow in the back.

Elizabeth Cline on "Fast Fashion" with Terry Gross on NPR's Fresh Air

Another reason buying vintage is awesome.

One hundred years ago we spent 20% of our income on clothes and now it's down to 1%... I'm paraphrasing Elizabeth Cline as she explains the cultural shifts in the value we place on our clothes. But haven't you been annoyed after buying a $10 shirt at Target? You wear it and wash it once, and then it's stretched out or coming undone at the seems. At the very least it's an inconvenience. But Cline delves much deeper than that. Having investigated clothing factories in Bangladesh and China, she explains the economic systems behind why clothing is so cheap, the conditions in which our clothing is made, and in doing so makes a strong argument for ethically made apparel. Isn't it important that we know what we support with our purchasing power?
